Ringo Starr and his music have been with me my whole life. My dad moonlighted as a drummer, primarily jazz, and he dug Ringo's playing. My mom encouraged my brothers' and my love of music, and we all play instruments, though none of us conquered the drums. My brother Tony, who is 10 years older than I am, was a teenager during the Beatles' run, and my first album (at the ripe age of 3) was his worn out copy of The Beatle's Second Album (Capitol Records). The first time my brother Bob (who will be joining me on this adventure) earned enough money through chores to buy me a present, he gave me Ringo's single 'Photograph' for my 9th birthday. My latest Christmas present from Bob was Beats and Threads. We've all seen Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band in concert over the years--this concert might put me into the double digits. I've gone with a variety of friends over the years, and we've all had a blast!
